Albay Governor Al Francis Bichara and Legazpi City Mayor Noel Rosal recently led the groundbreaking ceremony of SM City Legazpi. They were joined by SM officials led by SM Supermalls President Annie Garcia and AVP for Operations Jason Terrenal in a capsule laying ceremony, in which a national daily newspaper of the day and the mall’s floor plan were set in for future generations.
This paves the construction of the 68th SM mall in the Philippines, the second in the Bicol region, and the first in the province of Albay.
SM City Legazpi is strategically-located in a five-hectare property along Tahao Road, the city’s central business district. The three-storey mall will have a gross floor area of 84,413 sqm and will have The SM Store and Supermarket as anchors, as well as mainstays, SM Appliance Center, Watsons, and ACE Hardware. It will have a Cyberzone and national and global retail brands.
SM City Legazpi will have local, homegrown, and international food concepts, and a food court with the view of the majestic Mayon Volcano. It will be home to six state-of-the art cinemas, each with a 280 seating capacity.
For customer convenience, it will have a three-level covered parking area that can accommodate 860 cars, vans, jeepneys and motorcycles.
SM City Legazpi is set to open in 2018. Its construction will create more employment and will generate more business opportunities in the community.
The new mall will be an added attraction to the city and the province along with its famous tourist spots like the Mayon Volcano, Cagsawa Ruins, Ligñon Hill and many others.
