Summer has finally come around and you’ll probably be passing most of your time in the patio catching up on a great classic or watching the sunset with a soothing drink in your hands when you’re not attending pool parties or window shopping with friends. So might as well make it comfortable and aesthetically pleasing to you and your family members and friends. Here are a few tips to achieve just that:
First thing’s first: If you don’t have one, make one!
Not all of us have the privilege of having a space in our homes specifically for a patio, but don’t let that stop you. Convert any open outdoor space into your very own patio!
Invest on great chairs.
There are lots of chairs to choose from: traditional wicker chairs with soft cushions, bold modern statement chairs, or even fun “chairs” like hammocks or swings. Whichever you prefer, just make sure they’re comfortable and suit your tastes.
Add some lush plants and flowers for a nice splash of green and a touch of nature.
Just make sure they’re relatively low maintenance so you won’t stress over trying to keep them alive. Additionally, keep your fresh blooms in interesting pottery or vases!
Go for a relaxing but cheery color palette!
Choose neutral colors with dashes of jolly colors like red or yellow to both soothe your soul and brighten your day.
Think refined and eye-catching.
Add stunning gold decals or center pieces, use interesting, unique, and durable fabrics for your cushions and throw pillows, hang up a mirror on an exterior wall, or go for statement pieces and art. These are just a few of the many suggestions to keep your patio visually stimulating and even conversation starting.
Don’t forget modern comforts!
Add convenient electric lighting in soft tones, a bug zapper to keep the critters away, and perhaps an electric fan for when it gets too hot. You can even add speakers for playing music of your choice!
Lastly, make sure you have shade.
There’s nothing worse than sitting simmering in the summer heat, so don’t forget to add a durable freestanding and table inset umbrella that will still go with your patio’s color scheme.
