Hyundai Motor Co. in January will showcase its self-driving prototype at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January as the Las Vegas exhibition lately looks more like a motor show with automakers all rushing to flaunt futuristic smart vehicles at the closely-watched high-tech venue.
The Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the CES producer, on Monday listed Hyundai Motor as a participant with time slot for a press program at the world’s largest consumer electronics show held at Mandalay Bay Hotel on January 4, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
CES 2017 that begins with press events on Jan. 3-4 lasts and runs till Jan. 8 is where the newest innovations are unveiled.
Hyundai Motor will be debuting at next year’s CES press event. Its sister affiliate Kia Motors Corp. made its debut in this year’s. Hyundai Motor is expected to pitch its autonomous driving technology and operating system at the press conference. Hyundai Motor and Kia had been taking turns in running showcase booths at the Las Vegas exhibition from 2009 until 2013. In recent years, they ran separate booths.
Hyundai Motor declined to comment whether Chung Eui-sun, vice chairman and CEO of Hyundai Motor, will make the presentation.
Japan’s Toyota that unveiled a futuristic vehicle navigated by artificial intelligence in this year’s event also will make presentation in 2017 show.
