Mitsubishi is making its renewed push in the truck and bus segments felt with the opening of the country’s first dedicated dealership for Fuso trucks. Located along Quezon Avenue, the dealership is also the first to have service bays for Fuso vehicles.
The dealership, operated by the Diamond Motor Corporation, will accommodate the aftersales demands of Fuso customers from light-duty to heavy duty trucks. The 2,891 square meter lot houses five work bays and a large showroom floor to display the trucks. Its service center is equipped with tools, equipment and stocks of genuine spare parts. Manufacturer-certified technicians will be working on the Fuso vehicles.
To mark the momentous occasion, Fuso officially debuted its two new additions to the truck lineup, the medium duty FI and the heavy duty FJ. The two trucks were previewed during this year’s Philippine International Motor Show.
The six-wheeler Fuso FI features a more aerodynamic front fascia which aims to boost fuel efficiency and reduce wind noise. It is also equipped with wide halogen headlights with levelers to adjust illumination if the truck is loaded.
Aiding visibility are side rear view mirrors with convex proximity mirrors and under view mirrors for maneuverability. Fuso adds that the FI is the first medium duty truck in the country to boast standard air-conditioning. It also gets power winds along with a central door lock system as standard. For driver comfort, the FI is equipped with a tilt and telescopic steering wheel.
Power for the Fuso FI is provided by a new 4D37 turbodiesel. The four-cylinder 3.9 liter engine puts out 172 PS and 520 Nm of torque. It is then paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. For its frame, it gets thicker cross members which are shot-penned and powder coated. Fuso says that this method helps the frame be stronger and more resistant to corrosion. Meanwhile, a taller stack of leaf springs helps boost payload.
Moving to the 10-wheeler Fuso FJ, it too gets the more aerodynamic treatment it shares with its smaller counterpart. It also gets the wide beam halogen headlights with manual levelers and multi-angle mirros for more visibility and easier maneuverability. Like the FI, the FJ is equipped with power windows, central door locking system and tilt-telescopic adjustable steering wheel. A comfort feature added to the FJ is a multi-adjustable air-pressure driver’s seat.
The Fuso FJ is powered by a 6.4 liter, inline-six 6S20 turbodiesel engine. It has an output of 282 PS and 1,100 Nm of torque and shifts via a 9-speed manual transmission. The FJ also gets thicker cross members which have been shot-penned and powder coated plus a taller stack of leaf springs. As for safety, it gets thicker and wider brake linings, a full-air brake system and anti-lock brakes.
DMC Fuso Quezon Avenue is open to customers from Monday to Saturday at 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM while the service shop is open from Monday to Friday at 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
