Today, a new car company joins the Philippine motoring scene and it will offer the MG brand’s three new passenger vehicles – the MG RX5 compact SUV, MG6 fastback sedan, and the MG ZS crossover SUV.
MG is a traditional UK brand established in 1924. It is an icon of British automotive history with a long-respected sporting heritage. Today, MG is a global brand, with financial backing of SAIC Motor, which also happens to be China’s largest auto manufacturer and exporter.
MG Philippines – The Covenant Car Company Incorporated (TCCI) is the exclusive importer and distributor of MG automobiles and parts in the Philippines.
“The Covenant Car Company is optimistic that Filipinos will positively respond to MG’s new global products. It is honored to be the official distributor of MG in the Philippines, and is very excited to provide the market with new options, with an aggressive model line up and favorable offers, as it acknowledges the market’s discerning preferences,” said Atty. Alberto B. Arcilla, TCCI president and managing director.
The new MG RX5 is powered by an efficient 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 162 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, which is mated to a 7-speed double clutch automatic transmission to ensure smooth and seamless power delivery. The SUV is also fitted with an enhanced MacPherson and rear multi-link suspension system that smoothens out even the roughest of roads.
It is priced right for the local market with the MT Core at P 1,058,888; and the AT Style at P1,228,888.
There’s going to be another sport luxury vehicle that will delight car enthusiasts – the MG 6 which carries a rich racing heritage. Drivers will enjoy the sporty and responsive performance of the turbocharged 1.5L engine that produces 162 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. Sharp handling and a comfortable ride comes from the Macpherson struts up front and a blade-type multi-link rear suspension.
The price to acquire this beautiful machine is just right at P1,068,888 for the MG6 AT Alpha model; and P1,188,88 for the MG6 AT Trophy.
The third new vehicle is a crossover – the MG ZS – which is designed to give a heavy road presence with its “London Eye” headlights, “Stardust” grille, and “Plough” taillights.
It’s powered by a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine that produces 114 horsepower and 150 Nm of torque. Of course it comes what drivers expect from a real crossover – a reverse camera, Antilock Brake System, Cornering Brake Control, Electronic Brake Assist, Electronic Brake Distribution, Hill Start Assist, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, and a Traction Control System.
And driver control is enhanced by an LCD infotainment system with Apple CarPlay™ so you can stay connected while keeping both hands on the wheel.
The introductory prices of the MG ZS may surprise you – its three models are offered below the P1-million price tag: The Style manual transmission model is at P818,888; the automatic variant is offered at P 868,888; and the Alpha AT model is at P998,888.
MG Philippines offers a network for aftersales service – independent and accredited service outlets will be made readily accessible for MG owners.
Starting January 2019, a “Mobile Garage” service caravan will offer regular preventive maintenance servicing in your own garage.
The car distributor will also operate various service platforms designed for the convenience of the car owner, like a “One-Hour Max and Go” basic maintenance service procedure; a 24/7 customer care hotline; “MG HERO Services” offering 24/7 roadside assistance.
Car owners can also tap the “Mobile Gadget” service which will allow users to pair their MG to a proprietary smartphone app so that they can closely monitor their car’s running stats. The app will also allow them to schedule an appointment online for periodic maintenance serice.
Every brand new MG car will come with a 5-year or 100,000-km warranty. By the end of 2019, a total of six new MG products will be unveiled. MG Philippines will also establish 16 independent MG dealerships.
