Honda offers new Civic variants

Updated style and convenience features

Honda updates the Civic with new variants for 2019. In addition to showcasing the new additions and improvements, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), allowed members of the media to test drive the new models in Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga.

RS Turbo

The updated 2019 RS Turbo variant features a newly designed front bumper and new 18-inch Belrina Black RS alloy wheels. It continues to be powered by 1.5L i-VTEC turbocharged gasoline engine that puts out 173ps at 5,500 rpm with 230Nm of torque between 1,700-5,500 rpm. Inside there’s still the eight-way power adjustable driver seat that makes getting the ideal seating position easy with just one touch. The high center console, leather seats, refreshed leather interior trims, and new sport pedals give that extra sporty feel.

Also there’s the updated seven-inch touchscreen advanced display audio system with Apple CarPlay / Android Auto capability and an independent navigation system. We appreciated the newly integrated hard buttons next to the display and volume knob. For safety, the RS Turbo CVT includes Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), front driver and passenger side airbags, and side curtain airbags.

1.8 CVT

The new Civic 1.8 S CVT variant is equipped with new halogen projector headlights with integrated daytime running lights, 16-inch two tone alloy wheels, and a seven-inch touchscreen display audio system with the same integrated hard buttons next to the display and volume knob. The 1.8 E CVT gets new 16-inch Shark Gray Metallic alloy wheels. Both 1.8 E and S CVT variants are still powered by a 1.8L i-VTEC engine which puts out 141 Ps at 6,500 rpm with 174 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm.

The RS Turbo, 1.8 E and S CVT’s engines are mated to an Earth Dreams Technology continuous variable transmission (CVT), effectively transferring power to the wheels with both power and economy. The Honda Civic’s safety features include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD).

As we drove around Clark in both the RS and 1.8, both drove and handled as well as could be expected. The little changes and additions they made definitely added to their looks and functionality.

The Civic RS Turbo CVT is priced at P1,608,000; the 1.8 E CVT at P1,185,000 and 1.8 S CVT at P1,115,000. The Civic is available in the following colors: Rallye Red (RS Turbo), Platinum White Pearl (new color Additional Php 20,000), Cosmic Blue Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic (RS Turbo and 1.8 E only), Lunar Silver Metallic (1.8 E and 1.8 S only)

The new Civic 1.8 S CVT variant will be hitting the dealerships this June. For more information visit the Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. official website at
