A quick escape within the City

In the Mercedes-Benz GLC and V-Class

Much has been said about how living in the city can be stressful in itself, what with the heavy traffic, high density, and fast-paced lifestyle. Yet the city too can serve as an escape for those weary from it, with plenty of pockets of pleasure and relaxation hidden within.

This was the idea behind the drive organized by Auto Nation Group (ANG), official distributor of Mercedes-Benz in the Philippines, to treat us to a fun day of adventure and relaxation featuring the new GLC 200 and new V-Class 220d.

The day-long activity offered the participants the choice to drive the new GLC and V-Class or enjoy the comfortable ride and amenities offered inside both vehicles.

“We wanted our friends to experience and enjoy the new GLC and new V-Class as passengers… This allowed them to get a feel of the comfortable seats, the impressive amenities, and the quiet cabin of the new GLC and new V-Class, which you will appreciate nowadays given the heavy city traffic,” said Joseph Ayllon, head of PR Communications, Auto Nation Group.

The itinerary for the day called for a three-hour introductory course to scuba diving led by accredited PADI diver, Igor Subora. Held at the indoor scuba facilities of The Upper Deck Sports and Lifestyle Center in Ortigas, the activity aimed to give a glimpse into the lifestyle of someone with a spirit of adventure – a persona that perfectly matches the personality and performance of the new GLC.

To end the day and to relieve their tired muscles from an entire morning of scuba diving, the media were treated to massage at Recovery Spa also located at The Upper Deck.

Serving as our transports in between the activities were the new Mercedes-Benz GLC 200 and V-Class 220d.

The new GLC carries the iconic Mercedes-Benz SUV design with an athletic profile, striking radiator grille, elegant chrome elements, and the redesigned and functional multibeam LED headlamps.

Inside the new GLC, the sportiness, spaciousness, and luxury continue with high-grade materials, precise finishing and flowing contours. The new-generation multifunction steering wheel with touch controls improves the driving and maneuvering experience. The GLC steps up in bringing an all-digital instrument display with a 12.3-inch large screen that delivers a pin-sharp picture clarity that is also easy to read under any lighting condition.

The infotainment has been enhanced and updated with the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) for added convenience to both driver and passengers. A unique feature of this system is the ability to learn — thanks to artificial intelligence. MBUX is customizable and adapts to the user. By saying “Hey Mercedes”, MBUX activates and caters to voice commands to perform infotainment functions such as destination input, phone call, music selection, climate control, and 64-colors ambient lighting.

The new GLC comes in the 200 Exclusive variant and is now available at all Mercedes-Benz dealerships nationwide at a price point of Php 4.290 Million.

The new V-Class has a broader appearance and an even stronger visual presence thanks to its new front end. This comes courtesy of a new bumper design with striking cooling air inlets and a new diamond structure in the radiator grille. At the same time, four new light-alloy wheel designs ensure a striking, avantgarde appearance.

The interior of the new V-Class follows the trend of modernity and clarity. The new V-Class presents itself with new air vents in a more sporty turbine look as well as new dials in the instrument cluster. Thanks to the reduced design, drivers can orientate themselves much more simply. Modern and elegant can also be used to describe the new trim element in twin-stripe look which is used on the instrument panel and side paneling. The trim elements in the piano lacquer, ebony wood, carbon fibre and brushed aluminium looks remain. And as with the previous model, the first-row passenger seats can be configured to face backwards, allowing for convenient and shared use of the folding tables to hold meetings or have meals with other passengers seated on the second-row.
The V-Class 220d starts at a retail price of Php 4.690 Million.
